I AM EXPATRIATE AND I HAVE A TOURIST VISA, AM I ENTITLED TO WORK IN MADAGASCAR?

The tourist visa is a non-immigrant visa, it does not allow its holder to carry out a salaried activity in Madagascar.

I HAVE A TOURIST VISA, CAN I CONVERT IT INTO A RESIDENT VISA?

The tourist visa is not convertible into a long-stay visa. Resident visa applicants must use a convertible/transformable visa.

WHAT ARE THE FEES TO BE PAID IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A LONG-STAY VISA OR RESIDENT VISA?

Fees are based on the duration of the requested resident visa. As a guide, the transformable visa fee is 140,000 Ar (approximately 30 Euros), the resident visa fee is 150,000 Ar (approximately 30 Euros) and the biometric resident card for one year is 300 Euros.

I AM EXPATRIATE AND RECRUITED TO WORK IN MADAGASCAR, WHAT ARE THE STEPS TO FOLLOW?

The procedure must begin with an application for a work permit from the Ministry of Labour. Expats will then have to apply for a transformable visa, which will be converted into a long-stay visa, after examination the application file by the Ministry of Interior.

CAN AN INVESTOR GET A VISA VALID FOR MORE THAN 3 YEARS?

The duration of the investor visa is within the discretion of the Authority. But it is possible to obtain a visa of more than 3 years subject to the presentation of a well constituted application file.

I AM EXPATRIATE RESIDENT IN MADAGASCAR, I WANT MY FAMILY TO JOIN ME, WHAT FORMALITIES SHOULD I FOLLOW?

Your family members will be able to apply for a family reunification visa, which will be in connection with your resident visa.

I HAVE A WORKER VISA STILL VALID FOR ONE YEAR, I RESIGNED FROM MY PREVIOUS POSITION TO JOIN ANOTHER COMPANY. CAN I USE THIS SAME VISA?

No, the worker visa is attached to the employment authorization/work permit issued by the Ministry of Labour for your previous employer. A new application for employment authorization and resident visa is required.

I AM RETIRED IN MY COUNTRY OF ORIGIN, WHAT TYPE OF VISA CAN I USE?

If you want to stay for less than or equal to three months, you can use a tourist visa.

If you want to become a resident of Madagascar, you should apply for a resident visa status «retired»
